After completing an undergraduate degree in PE and Youth Sport and a PGCE in Secondary PE at Sheffield Hallam University, Demi began her teaching career at Swinton School in 2013. She joined the Academy in September 2014 with the aim to raise the profile and increase participation of girls PE. After a successful first year, Demi gained her first position within the DEEPS as an aspiring leader within DEEP Support. Her responsibilities included raising aspirations, mentoring a number of students who required additional support and leading the ‘Made in Sheffield’ programme. Pastoral support is something Demi has always had a huge passion for and supporting those students who require additional provision is something that she finds extremely rewarding.
In September 2016, Demi took a step back from the DEEPS to lead the PE department as ‘Acting Head of PE’ throughout the academic year. Although she had a successful year, the role was unable to be made permanent. This now meant that Demi could again turn her attention to the DEEPS programme in the hope to be part of the DEEP Support team once again. After interview, Demi was appointed Associate Assistant Principal within DEEP Support, working alongside the inclusion and behaviour team.
Demi was born and raised in Sheffield and is now extremely proud to be part of the senior leadership team within Outwood Academy City.
