Dawn studied music at the University of Huddersfield where she specialised in Musicology, composition and performance. She has performed in orchestras and brass bands across the UK and Europe, and is still an active musician in a number of ensembles.
Whilst studying for her undergraduate degree, she took on a number of instrumental students which led her to pursue a career in teaching. She gained a PGCE in music and secured her first teaching post at City. Since then, she has developed the music department into a thriving area of opportunities for students to perform, learn and compose music. Alongside this, Dawn has developed a passion for pedagogy, and after completing a Masters in Teaching and Learning from Sheffield Hallam University, she continues to challenge herself to develop her own teaching practice and support others.
After previously having roles as Developing and Aspiring Leaders in Deep Support, and leading the Performance department for two years, Dawn is delighted to be appointed as an Associate Assistant Principal in Deep Learning, where her main focus is supporting our newly qualified teachers and initial teacher trainees as the school's Senior Mentor Coordinator.
